Corley Mill Road/Andrew Corley Road Feasibility Study

The Central Midlands Council of Governments (CMCOG) is developing a Feasibility Study for Andrew Corley Road (S-28/S-738) and Corley Mill Road (S-68) to develop and analyze potential improvements.

The feasibility process involves:

  • Examining existing conditions and planned developments
  • Analyzing corridor safety and traffic data
  • Engaging the community on their existing concerns and vision for the corridor
  • Developing alternatives to improve the corridor
  • Drafting a Feasibly Report with the recommended alternative(s)

Project Corridor:

The Feasibility Study will analyze potential improvements along Corley Mill Road from North Lake Drive (SC 6) to Sunset Boulevard (US 378) and along Andrew Corley Road from North Lake Drive to Corley Mill Road. Corley Mill Road and Andrew Corley Road are both two-lane roadways with minimal shoulders and speed limits of 45 MPH and 35 MPH, respectively. Within 0.5-miles of the project corridor, there are three schools (two additional schools are adjacent to the project corridor), five churches, almost twenty neighborhoods or apartment complexes, and numerous single residential homes.

Project Team:

The project is being led by the Central Midlands Council of Governments (CMCOG) in collaboration with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), The Town of Lexington, and Lexington County. Mead & Hunt is conducting the traffic and data analysis, conceptual design, public engagement and will prepare the Final Feasibility Report.

Public Engagement and Schedule:

An important component of the feasibility study process is to gather public input on existing concerns and desired improvements. Two Public Information Meetings will be held prior to the preparation of the Final Feasibility Report.

  • Public Information Meeting #2 – Winter 2024/2025
  • Feasibility Report – Spring 2025

Project Materials:

  • Crash Map
  • Existing and proposed traffic maps (coming later this week)
