The Sandy Run Area Plan is funded with a planning grant from the Federal Highway Administration administered by Central Midland Regional Planning Council. The purpose of the plan is to develop recommendations for transportation improvements and land use policies that will best serve the interests of area residents and the County as a whole. So far, the study has documented the area’s population and employment characteristics and changes over the past three decades, and identified key opportunities and strengths. Community leaders and residents have been engaged through meetings with a Project Steering Committee of residents and County officials, focus group meetings with area community residents and business leaders, and a hands-on planning workshop with Sandy Run residents. The final plan will include recommendations for guiding growth, addressing transportation issues, and providing adequate public infrastructure to ensure continued improvement in the quality of life in the Sandy Run Area.
