In a few years the U.S. Census Bureau will announce preperations for the year 2010 decennial census of population and housing.  We are now just over 4 years away from the next census that will be taken in April 2010.  Because we have attained and passed the midpoint between the 2000 and 2010 censuses, Central Midlands staff has prepared a report that highlights population and development trends from 2000 to 2004, the latest year for which population estimates are available from the Census Bureau.  Building permits issued by local governments are the basis for our analysis of development trends in the region.  The complete report can be downloaded from this link:  Mid-Decade Census Review of Population Change and Development Activity in the Central Midlands Region.
